Chris Peltz, College Coach

Chris Peltz is an independent educational consultant who provides college coaching and guidance for high school students. With a dedication to education, Chris helps students discover their unique gifts, guiding them toward career paths and colleges that align with their goals. He works with students across all disciplines but also specializes in helping those looking to pursue a STEM or Engineering career.

Since 2019, Chris has been working with students in Northern Colorado, assisting them with college list building, the college application process, and financial aid. He thrives on learning as much as he can about colleges and the admissions process to impart that knowledge to students and their parents. Chris also applies his operational skills to help keep students on task with their applications and deadlines.

Chris learned the importance of education from his father, a math teacher in Detroit for 42 years. As a result, Chris integrates learning and teaching others in everything he does. Chris is a lifelong learner with a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Michigan, a Master of Engineering from the University of Colorado, and an M.B.A. from Walden University. He also completed a four-year Education for Ministry program at the University of the South’s School of Theology.

Chris’ professional experience spans 31 years in the high-tech industry, working for IBM, HP, and Micro Focus in various roles, including software evangelist, chief technologist, operations manager, and director of strategic programs. He is energized by learning new things and applying them to solve problems creatively, especially those that enable others to be more effective and efficient.

As a member of the University of Michigan Engineering Alumni Board since 2020, Chris helps current and prospective Michigan students understand various engineering majors and careers. He was instrumental in launching the Michigan Engineering Majors website. By working with college and high school students, Chris decided to pursue a career in independent educational consulting and joined launchphase2 LLC.

Chris has lived in Colorado since 1994 with his beautiful wife Lainie, owner of Massage by Lainie and Windsor Town Board member representing District 3. They are proud of the three incredible children they have raised in the Weld RE-4 system. Their oldest, Amilee, graduated from the University of Michigan and is now a software engineer at FactSet in Connecticut. Neva is attending Cornell University and will graduate with Honors in May with a degree in Government. Their youngest, Joe, is a Colorado School of Mines sophomore majoring in Mining Engineering. They also have a 5-year-old grand-dog named Shiv, a Jindo Mix.

Chris enjoys roasting coffee at home, riding his Triumph motorcycle through the mountains, watching movies, and rooting for all things Michigan Wolverines. He has been a volunteer at Windsor Kyger Reservoir (2023), a FIRST Robotics Competition Judge (2020-2021), and a judge for the Windsor Optimist Club Oratorical Contest (2024). Since 2023, he has saved non-profit organizations over $24,000 through the Catchafire.org platform, including the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education, Kids First Initiative, and Read to a Child.
